Ceruloplasmin is a blue, copper-binding (6-7 atoms per molecule) glycoprotein. It has ferroxidase activity oxidizing Fe2+ to Fe3+ wi thout releasing radical oxygen species. It is involved in iron transport across the cell membrane.
